E85 Flex Fuel Performance for Sport Side-by-Side UTVs

While the typical sport side-by-side UTV may look a lot like the 4-wheeled utility vehicles used by ranchers, farmers, and groundskeepers all over the country, vehicles like the Polaris RZR, Can-Am Maverick, and Arctic Cat Wildcat are less about work and more about pure off-road fun. They're usually built with heavier duty suspensions with up to 24 inches of travel, comparatively bigger engines, and a whole lot more performance with some models even sporting forced induction. UTV racing has exploded because of the extreme capabilities and for a relatively low price-tag versus a full-blown trophy truck, and it's easy to find local events ranging from short motocross-style courses to full blown desert racing. But despite the surprising capability in the dirt, and sportscar-like performance, many sport side-by-side UTV owners find themselves succumbing to the same want as the typical roadgoing automotive enthusiast: more power. And we can't blame them. The typical UTV engine has 2 cylinders and a displacement somewhere between 750 and 1000ccs and a horsepower rating around 50 to 180hp. This level of power is usually adequate to get drivers up moderate inclines, over rough terrain, and for cruising down backcountry trails. But adequate power often means that drivers will hit the performance limit of their vehicle before they find the off-road exhilaration they're looking for. E85 is a perfect solution to this problem, the same way it is in full-size vehicles. But until now, no one has offered any flex fuel solution for sport UTVs, and if you wanted to get yours to run on E85, it often required advanced tuning while still not being able to ensure proper performance due to the inherent ethanol variation at the pump. And once tuned for E85, you're locked in to your fuel choice, which can leave you stranded when you're out on the trail or having to go home early when it's not available at the local service station. That's why we've designed a series of PROFLEX Commander E85 Flex Fuel systems specifically for sport side-by-side UTVs like the Arctic Cat Wildcat, Can-Am Maverick and Maverick X3 series, the Polaris RZR, and the Yamaha YXZ1000R as part of our upcoming line of kits for powersport applications. These E85 Flex Fuel systems deliver a 5-10% performance boost without a dedicated tune right out of the box with the same simple plug-and-play installation you get with our full-size vehicle systems. You'll even be able to monitor your fuel's ethanol content in real-time via our app just like every other PROFLEX Commander system. Each UTV and powersports system will include a plug-and-play harness, PROFLEX Commander module, and ethanol fuel sensor. Some kits will also include bigger fuel injectors to accommodate the larger volume of E85 that is needed, if necessary for the application. The option to bundle the system with a performance tune will be coming soon as well.
